“You can’t pour from an empty cup.” This popular saying is often used to encourage people to take care of themselves first and foremost. And while this is true in many aspects of life, it’s especially important when it comes to mental health. There are countless ways to practice self-care, but finding what works best for you is key. Here are a few to help you get started!
Make Time For Yourself
Making time for yourself is the first step to practicing self-care. Sometimes it can be hard to do this because we are so busy with school or work but it is important to take time out of your day for yourself. You deserve it!
Some ideas on how to practice self-care include: going on a walk, reading a book, watching Netflix, playing video games, getting a manicure from a beautician perth, or taking a nap. Whatever makes you happy!
Also, remember that self-care doesn’t always have to be active like going on a walk or working out at the gym; sometimes just sitting down and doing nothing can be self-care too! The point of this is to take some time out of your day so that you can relax and recharge your batteries before starting another stressful task or day!
Take A Break From Social Media
This one can be hard because social media has become such an integral part of our lives but it’s important to take breaks from social media every once in a while because scrolling through Facebook all day will not only give you FOMO (fear of missing out) but will also cause anxiety due to the constant influx of posts about other people’s lives which may make yours seem boring by comparison.
Taking breaks from social media will allow you to focus more on yourself rather than everyone else which will help improve your mental health overall! Some ways that you can try and limit your phone use include: putting your phone away when you get home from work/school so that you don’t get sucked into Instagram/Facebook/Snapchat etc., turning off notifications for certain apps.
Do Things You Enjoy
Doing things that you enjoy is a great way to practice self-care because it allows you to have fun and indulge in your favorite hobbies. It’s important to do things that make you happy because when you are having fun, you feel happier!
Sometimes it can be hard to find the time to do things that we like but if we prioritize them in our schedule, they will get done. Some ways you can try and include doing things that you enjoy in your daily routine are: going out with friends, watching a movie, reading a book, or listening to music.
Take Care Of Yourself Physically
Taking care of yourself physically is essential for your mental health and overall wellness. This includes eating well, getting enough sleep, and exercising regularly. Being physically healthy will also help improve your mental health as well! Taking care of yourself physically will not only make you feel better but will also boost your confidence as well!
Sometimes taking care of yourself can be difficult especially if we are busy with school/work but if possible, try and work out 2-3 times a week for at least 30 minutes each time (doing more than this is even better!).
If exercise isn’t something that interests you, finding another form of physical activity such as yoga or some other form of exercise may be more up your alley!
Also, remember that just because something isn’t part of your daily routine doesn’t mean it won’t benefit you in the long run; so don’t give up on an activity just because it isn’t something that makes sense for everyone else! Find what works best for you! And remember…you deserve it!!
